Royal Enfield is almost ready to launch their new 650cc twins in UK. Following their long decided plan of introducing bigger engine in potential markets first, they will bring these two motorcycles to India in third quarter of 2018.
Continental GT will find limited number of buyers for its dedicated design and seating while Interceptor 650 will offer relaxed riding through long, flat seat and standard handlebar. For India, both bikes are expected to cost between INR 3-3.5 lakh while UK market will definitely have a bigger tag due to import taxes. Also, price in UK will provide an exact idea for Indian pricing.
Both Interceptor and Continental GT 650 were recently seen wearing new livery for Australian market, hinting at Royal Enfield’s plan of introducing market specific shades that are already popular for the region.
They are keeping high notice of quality related matters on both bikes as repeat of similar issue as Himalayan would ruin company’s plan of engine size expansion in coming years.
The motorcycle will rival Kawasaki Vulcan S and Harley Davidson Street 750 in India. The all new 648 cc, twin cylinder motor is good for 47 PS at 7100 rpm and 52 Nm at 4000 rpm under stock tuning.
