Royal Enfield UK recently updated their lineup and got the exclusive Classic 500 ABS Redditch Edition on board with them. The motorcycle now gets a wide range of shades on offer as three Redditch colors (Red, Green, Blue) takes the total to 12. Royal Enfield retails 3 shades of chrome, 3 standard colors, 3 Redditch shades, plus Battle Green, Squadron Blue and Desert Storm.
Royal Enfield UK offers all of them with a single seat and doesn’t even offers the same stock rear foot pegs as standard like we have in India. The news regarding launch of ABS version came first in January 2017. These imported motorcycles for UK are made in India and use a rear disc brake on all 12 shades. The Classic 500 with 2-Channel ABS has started reaching the dealerships in UK.
The addition of rear disc and ABS is currently missing from the Indian spec Classic 500 while Redditch Edition is only on offer on the smaller 350 series. UK misses on the smaller engine as only 500cc version of Classic and Bullet is retailed in the market. They even get a Continental GT with ABS, priced at 5199 GBP (on-road).

The new Redditch Edition shades are priced at 4699 GBP (around INR 3.95 lakhs) while Battle Green is priced at 4499 GBP (around INR 3.77 lakhs). This shade is not on offer in India and comes out to be the only Classic series motorcycle with Matt finished rims. Classic Chrome is the most expensive motorcycle from this series, carrying an on-road price tag of 4899 GBP (around INR 4.10 lakhs).
All of the motorcycles are powered by a 499cc, single cylinder engine producing 27.2 BHP at 5250 rpm and 41.3 Nm at 4000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox while use of dual channel ABS makes it safer than ever. We can expect Royal Enfield to launch the 2-Channel ABS model of Classic 500 in India by the end of this year with an increase of around INR 15,000-20,000 in addition the current price @ INR 1,75,700 (ex-showroom Delhi, post-GST).
