Royal Enfield has officially announced a limited-edition model under the 500cc Classic series. Christened as Classic 500 Tribute Black, it is the last batch of motorcycles to be equipped with the iconic long-stroke single-cylinder UCE 500cc engine.
With the introduction of the Classic 500 Tribute Black, it is now official that the production of the 500cc Unit Construction Engine (UCE) will come to an end before the implementation of the BS6 emission norms, taking the Classic 500, Bullet 500 and Thunderbird 500 models out of production.
According to the brand, the limited-edition Classic 500 Tribute Black has been handcrafted at the legendary Tiruvottiyur factory in Chennai while the commemorative edition will be made to order through a limited period online sale only. The registration for the sale has already commenced on the brand’s official website and here’s how you can participate to own a Classic 500 Tribute Black:
Technically, there are no changes and the limited-edition motorcycle continues to be powered by the same BS4-compliant 499cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that generates a maximum power of 27.2HP @ 5250 rpm along with a peak torque of 41.3Nm @ 4000 rpm. The engine remains mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
In terms of design, the Classic 500 Tribute Black features a unique ‘End of Build’ serial number in addition to an eye-catching dual-tone black colour scheme with golden accents. Royal Enfield has not revealed the price tag of the limited-edition model though one can expect it to get around INR 10,000 to INR 15,000 premium over the standard model of the Classic 500, which is priced at INR 2.04 lakh (ex-showroom).
