According to the ongoing rumours, Royal Enfield Himalayan 250 is reportedly in the making. A recently spotted test mule of the Himalayan has been doing the rounds on the internet and it is being speculated to feature the brand’s all-new 250cc engine. Since the 250cc quarter-litre motorcycle segment is one of the most popular segments in the Indian automotive industry, Royal Enfield is planning to conquer the market with its new 250cc adventure motorcycle.
The 250cc motorcycle segment is currently dominated by the likes of Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, Yamaha FZ25, KTM 250 Duke in addition to the recently-revealed Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and the Vitpilen 250. In addition to this, the upcoming KTM 250 Adventure is also one of the most sought after motorcycles from the brand that is expected to be launched shortly.
Back in July 2019, Royal Enfield officially announced their plans to foray into the 250cc motorcycle segment and one can expect the recently surfaced Royal Enfield Himalayan to be a test mule for the all-new 250cc single-cylinder engine. In comparison to the Himalayan 410, the front and the rear tyres of the Himalayan 250 will be smaller in size to keep the costs under check.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 250 is further expected to feature smaller disc brakes at either side when compared to the present-gen Himalayan variant while the suspension setup is also expected to be tuned with thin telescopic forks at the front.
If the reports turn out to be true, one can expect the 250cc Himalayan motorcycle to launch in India sometime by the end of 2020 or in early 2021. Experimenting in the most happening ADV sector is one of the wisest steps taken by the brand to get ahead in the competition and boost the sales numbers.
