Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Coming With Ride Modes & High-End Tech

Royal Enfield’s new test mule was spotted testing a few days back, and it is supposed to be named the Himalayan 450. Now, some more details about the forthcoming motorcycle have come to light thanks to a media report. For cost-saving reasons, the new motorcycle will come with a vertically-oriented instrument console that shows vital information. However, a fully-colourful TFT will not be on offer.

Powering the new Himalayan 450 will most likely be the 450cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with fuel-injection technology, which is reported to be producing around 40 bhp and 45 Nm of torque. The new engine will be designed to give strong on-and off-road capabilities, and it will compete with the KTM 390 Adventure as a more serious off-roader than the present long-stroke Himalayan. This powertrain is likely to be paired with a 6-speed transmission.

Aside from that, we can safely assume the motorcycle will come with a slipper and an assist clutch as standard. According to the source, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 would be fitted with a ride-by-wire throttle system, with three riding modes available: road, rain, and off-road. Off-road mode disables the rear ABS, while the switchable ABS system aids in sliding about for more pleasure, mostly off the tarmac.

It will also include a large fuel tank with a capacity of 20 litres, as well as upside-down front forks and a mono-shock suspension at the back, with probably adjustable preload. The suspension system is likely to have long wheel travel, and the motorcycle will have high ground clearance and, of course, a higher seat height, although specific figures are not yet available.

Just like the Himalayan 411, the upcoming Himalayan is expected to run on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. These wheels are going to be clothed in a specially built tyre compound from the Ceat brand with deeper treads.
