Royal Enfield is expanding at a considerable pace as they have recently inaugurated a retail outlet in Sao Paulo, Brazil. They retail indirectly in many countries but only have 2 dedicated international stores currently, one in Thailand and 2nd one in Brazil. Royal Enfield Brazil is a recently appointed subsidiary of the parent company that will take care of the marketing and sales operations in the country. Claudio Giusti is the new country manager for Brazil and would help the brand expand in a phased manner. They sold a total of 6,60,000 units last year and plan to expand the production to 9,00,000 units by 2018.

The currently retailed list of products include Bullet 500, Classic 500 and Continental GT. The 499 cc, single cylinder engine is common on the 500 cc cousins, producing 41.3 Nm of torque at just 4000 rpm. Continental GT uses an even more powerful 535 cc engine, producing 44 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. Being lighter and carrying premium equipment, Continental GT is the fastest Royal Enfield with a claimed top speed of 145 kmph. Royal Enfield skipped the Thunderbird 500 for Brazil due to unknown reasons while it even uses the same 499 cc engine as the Bullet 500 and Classic 500.

Speaking at the launch of Royal Enfield Brazil in Sao Paulo, Royal Enfield president, Rudratej (Rudy) Singh said, “We are delighted to be formally entering Brazil, and are able to offer our motorcycles to a whole new group of customers, that will enable us to realise our competitive potential in the fourth biggest motorcycle market in the world. We see a huge opportunity in Brazil that has a hugely underserved mid-sized motorcycle market with a massive commuter base. With motorcycle enthusiasts in Brazil waiting to upgrade to simple yet timeless and evocative motorcycles, Royal Enfield with its authentic British pedigree will be able to provide an excellent alternative with an accessible cost of ownership. In the coming years, Brazil can become one of our bastion markets outside of India and help us become a leader in the middle weight motorcycle segment globally.”
