Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 first test ride took place in Rajasthan. The motorcycle made an excellent first impression, displaying its cruiser qualities. The latest test took place in Mumbai to determine the more accurate real-world assessment. It went through standard fuel efficiency tests, both in the city and on the highway.
After covering under 70 kilometres on the highway. The Super Meteor’s 15.7-litre fuel tank required a 2.30-litre top-up, giving it a highway efficiency of 30.17 km/l. In the city, it covered moderate traffic for 44 kilometres, after which it required under 2 litres to return to full. This resulted in a city efficiency of 22.41 km/l.
The 648cc parallel-twin engine is shared with the Interceptor and Continental GT 650. But there are a few key differences. This is a much heavier motorcycle, weighing 241 kg versus 212 kg for the Interceptor (approx). RE has also shortened the gearing on the Super Meteor to help offset the extra mass.
Both of these factors contribute to the cruiser being less efficient than RE’s current 650cc models. The Interceptor fuel efficiency figures are higher at 24.80 km/l in the city and 34.66 km/l on the highway.
The Super Meteor’s fuel efficiency figures combined with its decent tank size should allow you to get a little more than 400 km out of a tankful. Which should be enough for most riders in most parts of the country.
