Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 Teased: Suzuki 2-Wheelers unveiled the BS6-compliant naked Gixxer 250 along with the fully-faired Gixxer SF 250 at the 2020 Auto Expo in February. The brand also revealed the BS6-compliant 150cc Gixxer series at the auto show.
Suzuki has recently updated the official web pages of the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250 with a ‘Coming Soon’ sticker. It is now confirmed that the BS6-compliant bikes will be launched soon and will start reaching the dealerships once the lockdown gets over.
Mechanically, the bikes are powered by the same 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine which is now BS6-compliant and produces 26.5HP of maximum power at 9300 rpm along with 22.2Nm of peak torque at 7300 rpm. In comparison to the BS4 variant, there is a 0.4Nm drop in the peak torque but now it comes in 200 rpm earlier.
The peak power of the bike, however, remains unchanged but it is now delivered 300 rpm later. Despite the upgrade to the BS6 emission norms, the weight of both the bikes remains the same. Suzuki Gixxer 250 weighs 156kg whereas the weight of the SF 250 stands at 161kg.
The 250cc Gixxer series will continue with the same colour options as they were available in BS4 variants. It will be available in silver and black colour options while its fully-faired sibling will continue with the additional MotoGP edition with Suzuki Blue colour scheme.
In terms of styling, both bikes remain the same. The Gixxer 250 features a naked street bike styling whereas the SF variant of the bike is a fully-faired sports bike. The 250cc Suzuki Gixxer series comes equipped with LED headlamp and taillight in addition to getting a fully-digital instrument console.
In terms of pricing, we can expect both the bikes to get around INR 4000 price hike when compared to the outgoing models. For your reference, the BS4 models of the Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 were priced at INR 1.60 lakhs and INR 1.71 lakhs respectively.
