Sales Report: Suzuki Motorcycles vs Scooters (February 2019)

Suzuki Motorcycles vs Scooters (Sales Report): Suzuki scooters are gaining traction at an unbelievably-fast pace and sales number for February 2019 clears that the brand can no more be considered an active rival in the lightweight motorcycle industry. It was once considered the most suitable rival for Yamaha motorcycles but their rising scooter number has changed the perception of a common buyer. The numbers seen this month are shocking and here you can have a look at the distribution of sales number among Suzuki products.

  • GSX-R1000R: 0 units
  • GSX-S1000: 0 units
  • V-Strom 1000: 0 units
Suzuki Gixxer 155

The numbers are quite surprising as the popular Gixxer series, now available with ABS and dual disc brakes, sold just 584 units in the 28-day period. The Hayate is already on the verge of getting discontinued while Intruder posting 0 units is another conflicting affair from the Japanese 2-wheeler giant. The most selling product is the popular 125cc Access with 48,265 units while second place was bagged by Burgman Street with 8282 units. This clearly shows that only scooters are bringing in the profits presently.

Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R

The superbike segment is growing decently, with Suzuki posting 42 units through three different body types falling under the category. Hayabusa is a legend for its segment as posting 26 units for a motorcycle with 1340cc of capacity is an achievement for the brand. On the other hand, the INR 7.46 lakh worth GSX-S750 and V-Strom 650XT were good for 8 units each. The overall value of these 42 examples is higher than the value of all 584 lightweight motorcycles combined.

Suzuki Access 125

Scooters, on the other hand, are not just taking over in the Suzuki lineup as Yamaha is also getting a huge percentage of sales from the Fascino and Ray series of products. Only Honda Activa posted a number that was huge enough to make the Access feel lower than ever as Jupiter was good for just 423 units more than the Suzuki bestseller.
