Suzuki Katana R is the dark variant of the standard version, seen through this neat rendering from Young Machine. The variant will be nothing less than an overhaul as the reports doing rounds on the internet also claims that Suzuki will use a larger 1135cc engine as the rebored version of the current litre-class motor.
Imagined in a dark shade with carbon fiber as the primary material for certain components, the Katana R could serve as the most powerful machine of its kind. The front suspension may now feature fully adjustable forks while the rear end could feature Ohlins monoshock. Not just that, the braking components will also improve to take on the extra power.
Suzuki Katana has no direct rival and the design exclusivity further makes it unbeatable for those who are not into naked or faired motorcycle department. The design will grow sharper than ever, featuring a lightweight exhaust and clip-on bars for the Katana R version. Suzuki could use carbon fiber wheels to reduce the overall unsprung weight but like the affordable nature of Katana, R variant will not be focused on bulk buying potential. Called as Super Katana by many reports, the motorcycle may feature more aerodynamically-suitable features like winglets and a larger visor.
Suzuki Katana is powered by a litre-class, four-cylinder engine, producing 150 HP of maximum power and 106 Nm of torque. It weighs 215kg with all the standard parts and one can expect a big drop in the kerb weight for the R variant. The glass sparkle black shade on the bike looks awesome while Katana R may feature matt black base shade for better than ever aggression.
The motorcycle may feature for the first time at EICMA 2019 and sale could start from existing markets like the UK and Japan. The Indian market may not get the Katana R in the first go as Suzuki is yet to launch the standard version in the country.
