Suzuki to Reportedly Launch 2 New Motorcycles on May 20 in India

Suzuki to Launch 2 New Motorcycles in India: Suzuki Motorcycle India is ready to enter the lightweight motorcycle segment with their 2 new motorcycles on May 20, 2019. The brand is focusing back on the product range that can help them revive their image as a premium motorcycle brand in India.

The most expected options for the day are 150cc and 250cc premium faired motorcycles with direct rivalry to Yamaha R15 V3 and the Honda CBR250R. The speculations for the May 20 showcase are based on different claims by some trustworthy sources. Few earlier reports hinted that the first bike in the quarter-litre segment will be a faired option and that makes, GSX-R name mandatory for the product.

Suzuki Gixxer 250 is Expected to be Based on the GSX-250R

The Gixxer 250 nameplate may be used in only one case, that too when the 150cc product is an upgrade to the Gixxer SF and not an altogether new product. If they wish to discontinue the current-gen Gixxer lineup, the Gixxer SF and SF 250 could be the new names while keeping the basic options alive, Suzuki could also go ahead with the GSX-R150 and GSX-R250 nameplates for their two new products.

Both the bikes will feature premium options like all-digital console, liquid cooling, fuel injection, and LED lighting while after the launch of the new motorcycles, the Gixxer SF (current-gen) could be restricted to the carburettor version only.

The New 150cc Suzuki Motorcycle May Get Some Design Elements from the GSX-R150

Gixxer and Gixxer SF are two important options to consider under INR 1 lakh as both the upcoming bikes are expected to bring price tags of around INR 1.30 lakh for the 150cc model and INR 1.60 lakh for the 250cc model. As Suzuki offers single-channel ABS on the Gixxer SF, the upcoming motorcycles will feature an updated dual-channel unit for added safety.

The current monthly sales figure for Gixxer series is approx 10% of what they used to retail last year, creating equal chances of replacement for the two bikes through the May 20 update. However, no brand wishes to skip the frugal entry-level 150cc segment that brings a perfect balance of power and price tag in India.
