Top 10 best-selling bikes in India saw a reshuffling of slots, leaving many with smaller numbers than they usually post every month. The bestseller, Hero Splendor, scored 2,47,116 units for the first position. The number is magnificent as just a handful of manufacturers get this huge number, that too by combining the sales of all products, including exports. Hero HF Deluxe got the second position with 1,83,716 units. The Indian brand is playing easy, adding numbers lost from a Splendor to the HF series. Honda entered the six-digit club with CB Shine, posting a healthy 1,08,790 unit figure.
Being a 125cc motorcycle, increase in demand signifies the increasing power needs of Indian commuter riders. Hero Passion scored 82,681 units and got the fourth position. The number brought a tough battle as Bajaj CT100 has shown aggressive signs of growth with its 82,424 unit sales number in August 2018. Hero Glamour witnessed a drop in sales, posting 74,097 units and getting a gap of two places from its strict rival, Honda Shine. Bajaj Pulsar, the benchmark Indian sportbike moniker, got 70,051 for a respectable seventh position. Bajaj Platina got the eighth position with 45,921 units in August 2018.
Royal Enfield Classic 350 and TVS Apache got next two positions with 44,610 and 38,837 units respectively. Both brands are considerably away from their best sales performance during a financial year. In total, the top 10 best selling motorcycles in India were good for 9,78,243 units. That is just a few numbers short from a million.
