Top 10 best-selling scooters in May 2018 welcomed TVS NTorq for the first time. The position it got may not be as exciting as the event sounds, TVS now has two entries among highest selling products of India. Honda Activa remained the highest selling scooter series with 2,72,275 units, single-handedly registering a number larger than all other entries combined on this list.
TVS Jupiter followed next with 58,098 units, registering downfall when compared to a much higher number in most months of a year. Suzuki Access was good for 46,217 units in May 2018, resulting in visible dominance over other brands selling 125cc scooters.
Honda Dio may feel least equipped in comparison to some other 110cc scooters but the sporty design was good for 32,899 units in sale during the 31 day period of May 2018. Hero Maestro stood fifth with 23,509 units while Duet followed close with 19,741 units.
Yamaha Fascino may soon be their best selling product as May 2018 brought 15,132 buyers into Yamaha dealerships for this stylish scooter. TVS NTorq, the most technologically advanced machine in this segment, got 14,695 buyers last month.
Majority of scooters sold were still from 110cc segment while increasing interest of buyers in 125cc scooters is also clearly visible. Each product listed here comes with an automatic transmission and thus, ease of riding is the first and most important factor that buyers look when going for a scooter. Remaining factors like utility, technology, and mileage further help decision making for most buyers.
