Monthly Sales Report: Top 10 Best-Selling Scooters in India (Dec 2017)

Top 10 Best-Selling Scooters in India: Scooter sales witnessed an equal drop in numbers as their motorcycle counterparts in India. Last month of 2017 was not that great in terms of overall growth but when seen relatively, every manufacturer had the same fate.

December 2017 saw Honda Activa claim the number one spot with 1,89,111 units in sale, leading second product by almost 3 times the number. Yes, TVS Jupiter managed to get 59,483 buyers and stood second with such huge difference. Not just that, Suzuki Access got just 26,959 units and stood third in the top 10 scooter list for December 2017.

  7. Hero Pleasure – 15,979 Units
  8. Hero Duet – 14,696 Units
  9. Yamaha Fascino – 13,048 Units
  10. TVS Pep Plus – 11,741 Units

Hero Maestro followed close with 26,379 units for the fourth position. Maestro carries a smaller 110cc engine while Access is offered with a bigger 125cc option. Honda Dio took the fifth position with 22,588 units while their homegrown Grazia got 19,037 buyers in December 2017.

Hero Pleasure was good for 15,979 units and got the seventh position among top 10 scooters. Hero Duet stood eighth with 14,696 units while Yamaha Fascino, despite being expensive then others from this segment, got 13,048 buyers. TVS Scooty Pep+ was also a popular choice with 11,741 buyers.

When you add the the values of last nine products, it barely crosses the monthly average sales of Honda Activa, clearly indicating that trust of buyers in this product is above every logic before buying a scooter.

Three Honda products in top 10 scooter account to a large chunk of segment sales, which one could safely assume as 7 out of 10 scooters sold last year were from Honda.

Yamaha, Suzuki and Hero are gaining numbers with time while TVS Jupiter is the ultimate choice of a buyer if he/she avoids Honda as their first option in India.
