Top 15 Most Asked Questions by Maxabout Fans on Facebook

Q1: When will the 2017 KTM 390 Duke launch in the Indian market? What would be its estimated price?

# Since the first day of EICMA 2016, this has been the most trending question among the fans of KTM. Here’s the right answer.

A: 2017 KTM 390 Duke will be launched in January 2017 while its deliveries are said to start in April 2017. The new, refreshed design is more inline with the 1290 SuperDuke R and would definitely provide the most premium of all features available on a motorcycle built and sold in India. The colored TFT console, MY Ride integration, LED headlamps and bigger 13.4 liter fuel tank makes it the best bike around INR 2.10-2.20 lakh (expected price).

Q2: When and at what price will the BMW G310R launch in India?

# A premium badge for a regular price tag makes it top grossing product of 2017!

BMW G310R will be launched in India in March-April 2017 and this has now been officially confirmed by BMW itself. It will be priced close to the born competitor 2017 KTM 390 Duke and would carry essential elements like dual channel ABS, full digital instrument console and thick USD front forks. It will be priced around INR 1.90-2.10 lakh (approx) while the BMW brand value will definitely bring KTM the toughest competition ever in the growing Indian market.

Q3: When will Yamaha unveil the R15 Version 3.0 and will Indian ever get the Yamaha M-Slaz ?

# R15 v3.0 is the most rendered product as it would be its first major design change since it launch. A highly awaited Yamaha for India.

Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 was expected to be unveiled at 2016 EICMA Motorcycle show, but it didn’t happen. As of now, it is not clear when will Yamaha unveil the R15 V3, they might unveil it by March 2017, there is no confirmed update regarding the unveil/launch of R15 V3. Yamaha has not yet announced anything officially regarding the launch of R15 V3.

Rendered Image Source – http://motoblast.org/

Yamaha M-Slaz is currently sold in most Asian markets and can be imported anytime by Yamaha when they feel that the competition is right in the premium 150cc segment. It would be better if they built it here and price it around INR 1 lakh or few thousands more. One more thing which is definite is that the next generation R15 would be built on the same platform as M-Slaz and will use headlight styling from the R3. Yamaha has no official word on the design but you can go through the most expected renderings below.

Q4: Is something named Suzuki Gixxer 250 real? Why is it always pointed to Suzuki GSX-250R?

# Suzuki has been the most launch friendly brand since last 30 days, presenting 5 bikes from completely different segments.

Suzuki Gixxer is a pet name for GSX series and GSX-250R would be called Gixxer 250 because of the same thing. The Suzuki GSX-250R has been revealed for both Chinese and European markets but India still has not hint for its official entry. The motorcycle is a nice sports tourer, providing maximum power at relatively relaxed rpms. Suzuki recently uncovered 5 products in total while its really hard to say if any will make it to India before next financial year. The 5 new products are GSX-S125, GSX-R125, GSX-S150, GSX-R150, and the GSX-250R.

Q5: Which one should I buy, Suzuki Gixxer or Honda CB Hornet 160R?

# The deadliest lock in naked street bike segment of India, most buyers are stuck on these two as their next bike.

Suzuki Gixxer is surely a better option when ready to consider a powerful street performer. It comes with lesser body weight, better price tag and the most exciting instrument console out of all in the segment. The running dynamics of the Gixxer’s 154.9cc engine is quite aggressive while the Hornet’s engine feel more like the Unicorn family. No doubt, it looks bold and uses CBS but from value for money and overall utility purposes, Suzuki Gixxer is suggested. It even offers dual tone shades for enhanced looks.

Q6: Which one to choose between Yamaha R15, Honda CBR150R and Bajaj Pulsar RS200?

# Different segments but same prices can even make you think thrice before choosing one of them. Here’s the real deal.

Yamaha R15 and Honda CBR150R belong to the same segment while Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is a totally different league. A buyer must decide first that what are the preferences on which the bike is to be bought. If you prefer a feature loaded, straight road performance with sudden burst of power, Bajaj Pulsar RS200 has no other rival on this list.

On the same time, if you can afford loosing 2 seconds on 0-100 kmph scale but wish to buy something that resembles the motoGP class bikes, Yamaha R15 is the sure shot answer to this with its Deltabox frame, ultra sharp controls and lightweight performance. CBR150R is not advised as it is overpriced and has an age old design with the least performing engine. If you are a strict CBR fan and love the VFR inspired design, going for CBR250R would make all negative points feel positive in a single go.

Q7: Should I go for Royal Enfield Classic 350 or UM Renegade Commando?

# On one side is the favorite Indian thumper while the other side do have an attitude within its looks. But the choice is still easy.

Royal Enfield Classic 350 has loads of benefits over the UM Renegade while in only one scenario, UM Commando can be bought. You should be firstly owning a RE bike and then buying the Commando for a great experiment. UM bikes are head turners in terms of design but their built quality and engine performance will force a typical enthusiast to retain his old bike before getting a Commando.

Classic 350, on the other hand, is a complete package with 28 Nm of torque at relatively very low rpm, providing the real royal feel in motorcycling. It even offers all modern features like disc brake, electric start and exciting shades.

Q8: I am confused between TVS Apache RTR 200 variants. Please explain with real world differences.

# RTR 200 was a potential product for this year but TVS handled it in the worst possible manner in India.

In India, TVS Apache RTR 200 currently comes in just a single model while it is broadly divided into 4 variants. The variants are explained below with the number of features being added up in each of them.

  • RTR 200 Carburetor + TVS Tires – Rs 88,990
  • RTR 200 Carburetor + Pirelli Tires – Rs 93,990
  • RTR 200 Fuel Injection + Pirelli Tires – Rs 1,08,990
  • RTR 200 Fuel Injection + Pirelli Tires + ABS – Rs 1,22,990

The first two are currently available in India while the last two are still to be launched at a later stage. The motorcycle is the best option to consider if looking for a practical 200 cc bike in India.

Q9: Any plans for 2017 KTM 125 Duke and RC125 in India?

# They would have been the best option if we had licensing relaxations below 125 cc.

KTM 125 Duke and RC125 are actually clones of the bigger 390 series of naked and sport bike from the manufacturer. Apart from the engine, which even is just less in displacement but not even in technology, there are literally no differences in them. Both have ABS, both have USD forks and all other components are identical. This would make the 125 cc bikes more expensive than any other bike around, most probably placed around INR 1.5 lakh or even more. Feasibility study won’t allow KTM to launch them anytime in the Indian market.

Q10: Is Yamaha planning to relaunch RX100 with 4-stroke engine?

# This question has been in the industry since the last decade. Here’s the right answer.

Yamaha has no plans to launch the RX100 with a four stroke engine. They currently used the RX moniker for an entry level bike and named it Saluto RX 110. The round headlight legendary motorcycle has currently no scope for its launch with an updated engine while the Saluto RX is actually carrying a weight of just 98 kg (same as RX100). Due to emission norms and better mileage for the current market scenario, the Saluto RX is good for just 7.39 BHP and 8.5 Nm of torque. The RX100 produced 11 BHP and 10.39 Nm of torque, even carrying a 98 cc engine.

Q11: When will Bajaj relaunch the Pulsar NS200 in India?

# India’s favorite street naked machine was forcefully called off the assembly line for Pulsar AS200 and AS150!

Bajaj Auto seems to show no interest in bringing back the Pulsar 200NS in India. However, it’s strange that a fuel injected version is being sold in other markets and produced in limited numbers. Bajaj should have sold every product in India, including the little 150NS that is also sold in selected countries of the world. Pulsar 200NS was 18 kg lighter than flagship RS200 and came with the same engine producing 23.17 BHP and 18.3 Nm of torque.

They have promised to update the current Pulsar series before this year’s end but hints for the relaunch of Pulsar 200NS in India. Bajaj has not announced anything officially regarding the relaunch of NS200, neither they have removed the bike from the official website, Bajaj might consider the relaunch in coming days.

Q12: What is the real name for Bajaj’s 400 cc motorcycle? When will it launch?

# Bajaj is one of the most confused brands of this time, having loads of products on its side that are to be fully revealed in short time.

Bajaj Dominar 400, the most recent name for its 400cc motorcycle seems to be one more guess as the name change cycle has been traveling through CS400, VS400, Kratos and then the Dominar. Things which are sure about the motorcycle is that it will be carrying two variants, ABS and non ABS, producing 35 HP at 8,000 rpm and using the 373.2 cc engine from KTM 390 Duke. If everything goes as planned, the Dominar 400 will reach us by the mid of December.

Q13: Rumors say TVS Akula 310 is Apache RTR 300 of the future? Is it true?

# 99 percent chances makes it true but you cannot trust Bajaj or TVS for a last moment change.

TVS Akula 310 was first showcased with a carbon fiber body at 2016 Auto Expo. Undoubtedly, it was the most attractive machine on the show and was even spotted testing with total camouflage. This makes it clear that TVS wishes to go further with its RTR series and bring the Akula 310 as a production ready sport bike that competes against INR 1.5 lakh plus sport bikes. It will be powered by the same 313 cc, 1-cylinder engine producing 34 HP and 28 Nm of torque. The 130 kg prototype will also gain some weight, making it close to INR 160 kg in production ready form.

Q14: Will India ever get Honda CBR250RR and 2016 CBR150R?

# Chances are few but they seem to be the products for 2018 lineup.

Honda made it clear in some official statements that they will focus more on volume generating products and would not bring the new CBR150R or any other product soon to the country. This clears their intention of simply beating Hero MotoCorp in terms of sales and caring less for the emotional connection between the performance bikes and buyers. Even after carrying a smaller engine, the CBR250RR would be strict competition to Yamaha R3 and Ninja 300 while the CBR150R carries the best in class design in its 2016 year model. India needs both of them.

Q15: When will TVS Draken launch in India? What will be its price?

# TVS Draken is a concept and will never be made into a real bike with the same name.

TVS Apache RTR 200, the flagship RTR is based on the Draken concept, making it the best ever RTR in the lineup. The front fairing, tyres, alloy wheels and headlight seems to be clearly inspired from the same while it gets its very own 200cc engine producing 20.23 BHP and 18.1 Nm of torque. The Draken concept will never enter production while the Apache RTR 200 starts with a price tag of INR 88,990. It comes with the best in class instrument console and options like ABS, fuel injection and Pirelli tyres.
