TVS Tyres is one among the big guns of Indian rubber industry. Well known for their grippy Remora series of sport bike tyres, the manufacturer will enter yet another segment through their radial 110/70-17 and 150/60-17 options.
This is one fast growing section with buyers moving in for KTM as well as Bajaj Dominar at a positive pace. Primarily, TVS aims to capture the market share that comes through the riders that prefer replacing their stock tyres (when worn out) with lesser expensive units.
Metzelers are quite expensive and so are Pirelli, leaving no other option than MRF in the segment. The tyres carry high expectations from fans throughout the country as reviews for TVS Remora made them think twice before buying a smaller set for motorcycles of 150-200 cc segment.
TVS makes a good time entry as most new motorcycles will carry this size of tyres as standard above INR 1 lakh. The most recent machine to come with these tyres as stock is TVS Apache RR 310. This tyre size is also common on bikes like BMW G310R and Mahindra Mojo, both offered as standard with Pirelli tyres. TVS Apache RR 310 will launch on December 6, 2017.
The launch event would be a great place to introduce this new series of tyres while reports estimate that market availability can take few more weeks after the unveil. The pricing would stay quite close to the MRF C1 while TVS is expected to promote the same through an attractive offer a its time of launch.
It is unsure whether the same size fits bikes like Yamaha FZ25 and Bajaj Pulsar RS200. If it does, buyers will get the option to upgrade to an even better size by keeping cost and reliability under check. TVS is presently India’s third largest motorcycle manufacturer in terms of yearly sales.
