2023 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Spied Testing Before Launch

As the test mule carries a TN test plate, TVS Motor Company has been caught testing the updated version of the Apache RTR 160 4V. In the competitive space, the highly popular naked streetfighter competes against the recently launched Bajaj Pulsar N160 and Hero Xtreme 160R. Over the years, the brand has regularly updated the motorcycle to bring a new vibe.

Last year, the Apache RTR 160 4V received significant updates, including a Special Edition, a new LED headlamp assembly, three riding modes: Urban, Sport, and Rain, similar to the Apache RTR 200 4V and Apache RR 310, a gear position indicator on the LCD cluster, radial rear tyre SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity, and more.

The performance figures remain the same as the 159.7cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine is used, producing 17.63 hp and 14.73 Nm of peak torque. It’s available in Metallic Blue, Racing Red, and Knight Black. The test mule shows no major design changes, but its performance could be improved.

According to reports, the air intake was revised, which could help boost power and torque figures while also improving overall rideability. The Apache range is known for its precise handling, superior straight-line stability, and sporty acceleration, and it will be interesting to see if any of these aspects are improved further.

The prototype also has a new exhaust system, which may or may not be used in the production model. Given that the update will be minor, expect minor price changes. The base variant of the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V costs Rs. 1.22 lakh, while the Special Edition costs Rs. 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom).

Because Bajaj Pulsar N160 already has a segment-first dual-channel ABS system, the upcoming RTR 160 4V may opt for a better safety net with a price increase of around Rs. 5,000 and possibly new colour schemes.
