1st BS6-Compliant TVS 2-Wheeler to Launch in India This Month

As per the latest buzz, the 1st BS6-compliant TVS 2-wheeler is expected to be launched in the market in the coming days. The report has been officially confirmed by K N Radhakrishnan, the company’s Director and Chief Executive Officer. The brand is yet to disclose the exact details related to the launch of the BS6 models.

Commenting on the upcoming launch, Mr K.N Radhakrishnan added – “We will start introducing BS-VI from November, early part of November, and start supplying it to the market. Definitely, the last quarter of this year will be completely BS-VI supplies into the market, so that we can proactively remove all the BS-IV, sell the BS-IV, and we are ready for the March 31 deadline, given by the government. So we are working towards that and we always keep about 5 weeks of forwarding sales stock.”

The recent reports confirm the launch of BS6-compliant TVS motorcycles though, the brand has not disclosed any information regarding the expected price increase in comparison to the current-gen BS4 models.

Since Yamaha is all set to unveil its BS6 motorcycle range first, one can expect TVS to follow the same route and launch the BS6 motorcycles in the first phase followed by the BS6 scooters in the next phase. The entire BS6 TVS portfolio will be launched before the new emission norms commence in the country from April 1, 2020.

Some reports also suggest the debut of Apache RTR 160 4V with a BS6 engine in the coming days. The updated motorcycle has been spotted several times testing on the Indian roads. Since the brand has recently updated the Apache RTR 200 4V with a Bluetooth-enabled console, the BS6 variant of the motorcycle is not expected to be revealed along with the 160cc variant. It is being speculated that the BS6 TVS motorcycles will carry a premium of around 10%-15% over their existing price tags.
