According to a recent report by Money Control, TVS Motor will launch an all-new BMW-TVS bike in India next year. The brand recently launched the BS6-compliant model of the Apache RR 310 while the upcoming motorcycle is expected to be a naked streetfighter. Here is the official statement by K. N. Radhakrishnan, President, CEO & Additional Whole-Time Director – TVS Motor Company:
“With respect to BMW, I think they are extremely happy. The two products are doing extremely well. We have launched our one version (RR310) on that platform, the new one with BS-VI engine was recently launched. And we, possibly next year, will have one more variant of that from TVS Motor Company.”
“So this is something the new product and upgrade is something we have to constantly look at opportunities and constantly delight the customer, and we will invest behind that,” he added.
Rumoured to be known as TVS Apache RTR 310, the upcoming motorcycle will share the entire part setup with the BMW G310R as the current-generation RR310 and G310R just have a different subframe and handlebar. On the other side, the mainframe, engine, exhaust, fuel tank, suspension, and even the braking system remain identical.
The Apache RTR 310 will have a G310R-sourced subframe bolted on the body that will bring down the rear seat height for easy everyday use. Also, the clip-on handlebar could be replaced with a standard handlebar to achieve a relaxed sitting posture.
The upcoming BMW-TVS bike is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 2 lakh. The TVS Draken concept-inspired front fascia can be the best bet for the brand as fan-following for the concept is the highest ever for a TVS streetfighter design.
In terms of the tech specs, the RTR 310 is expected to be powered by the same 312.2cc single-cylinder fuel-injected liquid-cooled engine that generates a maximum power of 34HP @ 9,700 rpm and a peak torque of 27.3Nm @ 7,700 rpm. The engine will remain mated to a 6-speed transmission.
