On July 6, 2022, TVS Motor Company plans to launch a new motorcycle in India. However, this Chennai-based homegrown two-wheeler manufacturer has stayed silent on the subject. There have been reports that the business may eventually release a cruiser motorbike, possibly the production-spec version of the TVS Zeppelin, which was first seen at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The TVS Zeppelin cruiser prototype has a unique look and some intriguing features. In 2020, the TVS trademarked the ‘Zeppelin R,’ however, there has been no further information since then. Now, a leaked photograph suggests that the company’s forthcoming motorcycle would have a round-shaped headlamp, implying a retro-styled cruiser.
It’s worth noting that the TVS trademarked the brand names ‘Retron’ and ‘Ronin’ in 2020, and the next motorcycle could be named after one of them. In addition, ‘Ronin’ signifies ‘wandering samurai’ in Japanese. As a result, it might be the name of TVS’ forthcoming cruiser, which will be aimed at riders who prefer long-distance excursions.
While the exact specifications of the future cruiser motorbike remain unknown, it is expected to be powered by a 225cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, fuel-injected engine. When combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox, this engine could produce roughly 20 horsepower and 19 Nm of peak torque. In terms of suspension, upside-down front forks (similar to the Zeppelin design) and a mono-shock at the rear could be used. Front and rear disc brakes will most likely be used, with a dual-channel ABS system to assist.
Like most other TVS products, one can expect the Ronin 225 to be feature-rich and it might compete in the same segment as the Bajaj Avenger 220. All of this is just speculation, as there is no factual data about the impending motorcycle. We won’t know for sure until TVS unveils the new model to the world on July 6th.
