When every manufacturer in India is willing to get a chunk of scooter sales in the premium 150cc segment, why would TVS stay behind and see others enjoy the feast? Going right with this notion, TVS Graphite 150 is expected to launch in the first quarter of next fiscal. It has been spotted testing on various occasions and none other than Aprilia SR150 was seen chasing the power scooter. It was seen back at Auto Expo 2014 and getting a production version in 2019 would be a great idea. It will support triple digit speeds with ease as the SR150, that was once chasing the camouflaged scooter, was traveling at 110 kph.
Not even a single detail regarding engine specs leaked in last four years by TVS. It made more sense as they first entered the 125cc segment and now, using the same frame and body basics would be a great idea for the 150cc scooter. The decision to target the lesser selling Vespa and Aprilia range of scooters is also a brave step. Only these two offer a 150cc engine under the seat while all others are over at 125cc. TVS is expected to use the fully digital instrument console from Ntorq 125 and better braking than any other scooter presently on offer in their lineup. The front is seen with a small visor and disc brake on the Graphite.
The scooter is expected to get priced around INR 68,000 and will feature ABS as most TVS performance models. It will be their first attempt into the performance scooter segment as the primary focus of TVS stands on Jupiter, Apache and XL series of products. All three of them are the highest selling products of all time in the company lineup. TVS Motor is currently the third largest manufacturer in terms of overall sales. It still has a long way to go as the first two brands have almost double the sale as TVS. The booming scooter market offers a great chance.
