TVS Jupiter is preparing hard to take on another milestone as it will soon be launched with fuel injection in India. If this happens anytime soon, Jupiter Fi will be the first Indian scooter to offer fuel injection for better mileage and class leading refinement.
Yamaha used fuel injection to boost efficiency of FZ series in terms of mileage. Most brands are using this way to attract more customers as one can get fuel injected Glamour or even optional models from TVS Apache and Bajaj Pulsar. Here, the model looks exactly same as carburetor fed variant and even came without disc brake.
Not just fuel injection will be offered with this package but one also gets sync braking system, which is actually a renamed version of combination braking in TVS products. It seems like they are testing these two technologies on regular vehicles and may offer them under new shades this year.
TVS Jupiter is India’s second highest selling scooter brand with more than 2 million Jupiters on Indian roads. This change from carburetor to fuel injection has left the choke space empty, which most probably, can be used in placement of phone charging slot.
TVS Jupiter is offered with a 110cc, single cylinder engine producing 8 BHP at 7500 rpm and 8 Nm at 5500 rpm. The engine comes mated to an automatic gearbox. They will keep the engine same while fuel efficiency is expected to improve by a small margin.
It may result in a price increase of INR 3,000-4,000 as Suzuki charges the least for this tech with their Gixxer SF. It can even be a possibility that TVS manufactures these components in house and my save on additional cost that most brands charge for importing parts like ABS and fuel injection. They may launch the product around mid 2018.
