While Royal Enfield used to dominate the entry-level retro segment, new competitors such as the Honda CB350, Jawa, and Yezdi have emerged in recent years. With the growing popularity of such bikes, TVS has finally entered the retro motorcycle market with the launch of Ronin scrambler motorcycle with a starting ex-showroom price tag of Rs 1.49 lakhs for the base model which is available in single-tone colours and comes equipped with a single-channel ABS unit as standard.
The Ronin features retro styling such as a circular headlamp and rear view mirrors, a tear-drop fuel tank, and a wide rear mudguard. Other notable features include six attractive colour options, gold-finished USD front forks, a slim seat design, and a conventional grab rail. The engine, belly pan, and exhaust are all blacked out in the bike's lower section. In addition to all these features, the TVS Ronin 225 has dual-tone multi-spoke alloy wheels.
The TVS Ronin is said to have a comfortable riding stance thanks to its wide handlebar and centrally mounted foot pegs. With its 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres, it can handle city streets, highway cruising, and some mild off-road trails. There are three variants available: Ronin SS base variant, Ronin DS mid variant, and the top variant is known as Ronin TD.
The TVS Ronin is powered by a new 225.9cc oil-cooled single-cylinder engine with a 5-speed gearbox, which is derived from the 200cc unit found on the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. It has a maximum power output of 20.4 HP @ 7750 rpm and a peak torque output of 19.93 Nm @ 3750 Nm. The motorcycle is equipped with an assist and slipper clutch as standard.
While the front suspension is handled by USD forks, the rear suspension is handled by a 7-step adjustable monoshock unit. The TVS Ronin has disc brakes on both ends as standard, the front end has a 300mm disc while the rear end is equipped with a 240mm disc. Here is the full price list for the TVS Ronin 225:
