The Bengaluru-based start-up, Ultraviolette, like many other potential EV maker companies in recent years, has managed to garner attention from all directions even before launching its first model. In terms of its first product, the company unveiled it in the form of an electric motorcycle prototype named F77 in October 2019. Recently, it was heard that the e-bike is scheduled for production in the first quarter of 2022 and could be launched in March next year. Ahead of its production, the company has posted a video of performance testing of the bike on their official Youtube channel.
Unlike traditional pre-launch test runs, Ultraviolette incorporated the use of several electronic sensors to collect various types of data. The F77’s handling, stability, acceleration, and braking were all evaluated throughout the testing. Vehicle testing is divided into two phases, as stated in the video: qualitative and quantitative.
Quantitative implies connecting the knowledge received from the former to concrete data such as pitch, roll, yaw, stiffness, and other variables. F77’s numerous metrics have been captured and monitored using a variety of sensors. Qualitative data collection includes biking in various settings and collecting comments, feedback, efforts, and so on.
Moreover, qualitative assessments include many tests such as Zigzag, braking, acceleration, wobbling, and weaving that are performed by practically every auto manufacturer to evaluate different elements of a vehicle’s on-road performance.
The forthcoming F77 is said to be the fastest motorbike in India’s electric two-wheeler market. As per the original prototype, the bike has a top speed of 140 kmph and a 0-60 kmph acceleration time of 2.9 seconds. The battery pack involved is projected to have a range of 150 kilometres on a single charge, while there has been speculation of Ultraviolette releasing a longer-range edition of the F77.
