Renegade Bikes Sales Report – UM never shared any variant wise sales figure since their entry into the Indian market. For the first time, an official statement from UM India has claimed 9800 units for FY 2017-18.
The period from April 2017 to March 2018 was quite impressive for this brand as average monthly sales of 800+ units helps it score the eighth position among all motorcycles brands of India. This place for earlier bagged by Mahindra but Mojo 300 seems to have failed miserably with just 41 units in April 2018.
UM bikes rival Mahindra Mojo, KTM and Royal Enfield bikes in their price segment. They are miles away from Royal Enfield but increasing interest of buyers in cruiser style bikes could affect the overall sales of KTM bikes falling between INR 1.70-2.00 lakh. UM retails uniquely designed cruiser that comes based on the same engine and platform but flaunts different accessories for easy differentiation.
The range starts from Sports S EFI with INR 1,64,910 price tag. The sporty cruiser comes with distinguishing front headlight fairing, vibrant shade options and cruiser specific seating with rear backrest. Top spec Commando Classic carries INR 1,99,348 worth price tag and comes in exclusive Black and Copper shade options.
All the bikes are powered by 279.5cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine producing 25.15 PS at 8500 rpm and 23 Nm at 7000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and offers fuel injection as standard. This INR 2 lakh worth of Commando Classic comes with a single front disc brake and weighs 179 kg.
The only value for money option available is Sports S here as it offers the same amount of power, 2 kg of less weight and options like USB phone charger. UM is also planning to launch their city friendly Duty series in coming months as that could boost their monthly sales figure into four digit number with its effective starting price of INR 1.10 lakh.
