Renegade Commando Pros Cons

Pros of Renegade Commando

1. Big Bike Feel

The UM Renegade Commando is inspired from American cruisers such as the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy and that’s why it appears to be bold and bulky. Undoubtedly, every angle of the bike looks classy and would simply turn heads on the road. What adds to its cruiser-like stance is the handlebars.

2. Powerful Engine

The power in the Commando is not just reflected in its looks but also through its engine. Powering the Commando is a 280cc, carburetor fed and liquid cooled motor which can produce 24.8 BHP @ 8,500 rpm and 23 NM @ 7,000 rpm. The engine is a single cylinder unit mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

3. TVS ATT Tyres

TVS ATT tyres further add to its classic cruiser appeal giving a lot of confidence to the rider. Commando has got wire-spoke wheels in a 16/15-inch front/rear combination to add both strength and fun to your rides.

4. Comfortable Long Rides

This big cruiser would not make you feel tired even after long hours of riding. This is because of its ergonomic riding position with pulled-back narrow handlebars, wide cushioned seat along with centered footrests which support your seating position.

5. Electronic Fuel Injection

Initially, Renegade Commando was available with a carburetted engine, but recently to meet the BSIV emission norms, UM India launched an upgraded version with electronic fuel injection (EFi).

Renegade Commando Pros Cons

Cons of Renegade Commando

1. Plastic Quality

A closer look would make you notice the low quality plastic used for the switch-gear and panels. They seem to be built for an ultra-low price bike. Also, the plastic centre panels does not seem to align exactly which is another thing that would pinch you every time you sit on the bike.

2. Lack of an Overflow Gutter

Although the bike has got a good paint quality but you will notice some chipping near the lip of the fuel-filler port on the tank. Yet another trouble comes with the lack of an overflow gutter around the port. This leads to flow of excess fuel over the tank and result into stains on the matte finish paint.

3. Not a Value for Money Product

Being priced at Rs. 1.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), a rear disc brake, ABS, and alloy wheels are the expected features in the bike which is in fact are all missing.

4. Heavy Weight

The wet weight of the Commando is 179 kg which is likely to affect its performance and mileage figures.
