Yamaha FZS Rear Disc has been launched in India for INR 86,042 (ex-showroom Delhi). As we already had cleared the fact that Yamaha will launch a dual disc version, this official confirmation further solidifies the plans of Japanese manufacturer to bring buyers from brands like Hornet and Gixxer back home.
Keen eyes will also notice a new set of alloy wheels and bigger 282mm front disc brake for the motorcycle. Yamaha has also updated the shade for 2018 as the one seen here gets unique Blue/Black dual tone livery christened as ‘Armada Blue’. Even the sticker job has been changed to this new FZ moniker, first seen with the introduction of Yamaha FZ25 on their official website. This is the biggest update to FZ series after 2014.
Apart from these changes, everything else looks the same as 2017 variant. The engine remains identical as it is the most refined unit ever used on the street series.Yamaha FZ-S may not be the only model to receive these changes as FZ and Fazer are also based on same platform and share almost every single part (except for fairing in Fazer Fi) with each other. These 2 bikes will also get the same 220mm rear disc brake in coming days.
Yamaha FZ-S Rear Disc is powered by a 149cc, single cylinder engine producing 12.9 BHP at 8000 rpm and 12.8 Nm at 6000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The fuel injected motor returns around 45 kmpl of mileage in everyday riding conditions.
The value could hover around 50 kmpl when riders chooses highway as their regular route. Yamaha offers 41mm front telescopic forks, rear monoshock suspension and 140 mm rear tyre on the FZ, FZ-S and Fazer series.
Speaking on the launch, Mr. Roy Kurian, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said, “The legacy of Yamaha’s FZ series in India is all about the inheritance of a unique motorcycling passion. Immensely popular with Indian bikers all the way through almost 10 years from the day it was launched in India, and winning over a million hearts, it was crowned to become the ‘lord of the streets’ by the collective culture of the country’s motorcycling. While its best seller features like build and appearance, superior engine technology, fuel mileage and suspension are retained, the new additions will excite the present and new customers.”
