2018 Yamaha R25 was recently launched in Malaysia for RM 20,630 (INR 3.35 lakh approx). The price includes the applicable GST in Malaysia. Yamaha offers the 2018 R25 in two new shades. No changes were made except for the change in color. It retains the twin headlight design and sharp rear end as 2017 variant.
The 249cc, twin cylinder engine on the motorcycle is good for 36 HP at 12,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm at 10,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. As it weighs 166 kg, power to weight ratio of R25 is quite impressive.
Indian market will get the same shades but Yamaha will use a bigger 321cc engine in place of this 249cc motor. Malaysian market is more biased towards quarter liter options and KTM RC 250, Ninja 250 and Honda CBR250RR are the closest rivals. R25 misses on ABS in the Malaysian market. 2018 R3 is expected to launch in India @ Auto Expo 2018.
