Yamaha has recently revealed the updated model of the XSR125 and called it the Legacy Edition. The upgraded bike will start hitting the United Kingdom market in June this year. The XSR 125 was introduced in Europe last year, and it is based on its street-naked sibling, the MT-125. It could be disheartening for Indian bike lovers to know that the bike is unlikely to hit the Indian roads anytime soon. The new Legacy Edition of the XSR 125 features considerable visual improvements over the previous model.
For 2022, the Yamaha XSR 125 gets new colour schemes, wire-spoked wheels with gold-painted rims, and new Metzeler Karoo tyres. Whereas the outgoing model was equipped with black alloy wheels. A golden-coloured stripe with Yamaha lettering has been added to the fuel tank, and it complements perfectly the gloss black paint. Aside from that, all the other aesthetic elements are carried forward from its forerunner.
Built on a Deltabox-style beam frame, this new-retro roadster comes loaded with sophisticated features like an all-LED lighting setup and a fully digital, blue-backlit, circular instrument display, which are borrowed from the XSR155. Yamaha also plans to release a slew of accessories for the new XSR 125, including an expensive Akrapovic exhaust, a tank pad, displays, and other extras.
In terms of mechanical specs, the Yamaha XSR125 is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that is used on the MT-125 as well. This engine is capable of churning out 14.8 bhp at 10,000 rpm and peak torque of 11.5 Nm at 8000 rpm and comes mated to a 6-speed transmission.
As for braking and suspension duties on the bike, the suspension is done by 37mm upside-down forks in front and a mono-shock in the rear. While the braking chores are assigned to disc brakes at both ends, they are further supported by the ABS system as standard.
