Complete Sales Report of Yamaha 2-Wheelers (August 2018)

Yamaha 2-Wheelers India registered a total of 73,172 units in domestic sales chart of August 2018. The number made them good for the fifth position, leading ahead of Royal Enfield, Suzuki, and Piaggio among the mainstream brands. They still have a long way to go as TVS and Bajaj Auto have almost twice more units than Yamaha in their sales number. Hero and Honda believe in commuter-specific product numbers, which in fact, have helped them claim those unbelievable numbers every month. The fraction of Yamaha bikes in the commuter segment is almost negligible while their presence in the premium scooter and sportbike market is worth a mention.

Yamaha Recently Launched the R15 V3 MotoGP in India

As Royal Enfield has no strict rival and a cult fan following, the closest rival to Yamaha is Suzuki India. Even they have seen a reduction in sportbike numbers and just Access 125 is saving them from getting extinct. Yamaha Fascino is the highest selling product from the Japanese manufacturer, registering 20,576 units in August 2018. Ray series got 14,244 buyers and proved its worth among other scooter rivals. FZ and R15 are unbeatable for their segment, leaving behind all others by an unbelievable margin. FZ25 also scored the best among its segment, getting 1,763 buyers who wished for enhanced performance at affordable pricing.

Yamaha R1 and MT-09 found no buyer while R3 was good for 64 units in August 2018. Saluto RX, their most affordable motorcycle, got just 1,048 units on its side. The trend shows how buyers are divided on the basis of price tags among different brands. Most Indians believe in getting a Hero, Honda or Bajaj bike when spending under INR 60,000 while the numbers change drastically with Bajaj, TVS and Yamaha being next three preferred brands for a bike under INR 1 lakh. Above that, Royal Enfield is the uncrowned king with over 90% market share.
