Yamaha Motor India recently removed the Fazer V2 (150cc model) from their official website, clearing the fact that the last generation semi-faired model based on the FZ V2 is not making any comeback through this design. The motorcycle was left unattended from a long time as the rear disc brake update was missed on the model while FZS pricing came almost close to the faired version. The motorcycle was seen receiving price hikes on the official website (system error most probably) when even the ABS rule had halted its sale in the country. The removal of Fazer V2 raises the question for the presence of Yamaha R15S and the SZ-RR V2 on the official website.
Entire Yamaha lineup now comes with either CBS, single-channel ABS or dual-channel ABS, depending upon the engine size and cost factor for the product. The scooter (Ray series, Alpha and Fascino) lineup falls under 125cc and thus, comes with CBS as the standard safety feature. This list also includes Saluto RX and Saluto 125. However, options like FZ, FZS, and MT-15 are available with single channel ABS while R15 V3, FZ25, Fazer 25 and the YZF-R3 features dual-channel ABS. Yamaha R15 V3 is the only 150cc product to have a better braking system.
With the pattern seen on all these bikes, Yamaha may consider putting single-channel ABS in R15S and SZ-RR V2. If not, both the bikes will soon leave the official website as the prohibition on the sale of non-ABS bikes is effective in India since April 1, 2019. This leaves Yamaha with five scooter variants and nine motorcycle variants compliant with the current safety norms. The number of units sold for premium motorcycles has gone up by a considerable margin and Yamaha is the highest gainer with all its 150cc bikes falling above INR 1 lakh (on-road). They could have even considered the dual-channel ABS unit for FZ V3, FZS V3, and the MT-15 street bikes.
