FZ25

Pros of Yamaha FZ25

1) Most Affordable 250cc Bike in India

This typical Yamaha carries the tag of the most affordable motorcycle in the quarter-litre segment. FZ25 comes with a smaller price tag than other motorcycles around the engine segment. The only motorcycles that falls under its price tag is Apache RTR 200, and Pulsar NS200 and both of them carries a smaller engine. Pulsar RS200, KTM 200 Duke and even the CBR250R are highly priced in comparison. FZ25 is available for INR 1,19,335 (ex-showroom Delhi).

2) Excellent Mileage @ 43 kmpl

Yamaha FZ25 claims an excellent mileage of 43 kmpl. All others around the segment are not even into the 40+ league as maximum of them return close to 35 kmpl of mileage from their engines. This will keep the overall cost of running low and let the user enjoy ample power within the accessible range. The powerful engine is even delivering class-leading torque in its price segment.

3) Good Build Quality

FZ250 is a Yamaha by birth and this makes it entitled to the best quality components available across Indian motorcycle industry. It shares most of its components with the younger FZ version 2.0, promising a high-quality product that will perform better on everyday roads. The tried and tested formula even builds more trust within the existing and new customers for Yamaha Motor India.

4) Lightweight

Yamaha has built the bike in such a way that it weighs just 148 kg with a full fuel tank and all fluids in the engine. A motorcycle that carries 14 liters of petrol, 1.55 liters of engine oil and few other liquid components weighs quite low when compared to others around the performance segment. This makes it easy for riders to control the FZ250 in heavy traffic and even handling it around the bends at certain speeds.

5) All-Digital Instrument Console

The instrument console on the new FZ25 is really impressive, presenting new features like dual trip-meter, instantaneous and average mileage as well as a digital clock. The regular values like tachometer, speedometer and odometer are also placed in a nice manner, making values easily visible while driving.

6) Macho Design

The design of Yamaha FZ25 looks inspired from other members of the FZ family, carrying the Macho character for enhanced street bike appeal. The fuel tank is even chiseled for maximum attitude while extended cowls are totally new in design. The headlight flaunts fearless styling while lighter tail end adds the sporty bit into the overall design. It even looks mature with its independent tyre hugger.

7) Comfortable Seat Height

Yamaha FZ25 comes with a seat height of 795 mm, making it lower than most other street fighters in the price segment. This makes it easy for riders with average height to control the bike and drive with an easy hand. Along with that, The seating posture of the FZ25 is said to be typical street bike style, improving over the position that is available on the other FZ series bikes. Straight back can even reduce fatigue during extended rides on the FZ25.

8) High Torque

The 249 cc, fuel injected engine produces 20 NM of torque at just 6,000 rpm. The high torque promises excellent riding comfort and easy drive on all types of terrains. The engine is relaxed and pushing the rider for high revving is not in its nature. The mature riding style may not be suitable for those who love revving the bike hard but could impress audience which needs a bike with ample power and powerful presence.

9) Availability

Yamaha FZ25 is available pan India from the first day of its launch. Unlike TVS and Bajaj, Yamaha usually starts the deliveries across every small and large city of India at the same time. Not just that, Yamaha is expanding its dealership network in such a way that every Indian motorcycle lover can buy one around his town.

10) Attractive Shades

Yamaha FZ25 is offered in three attractive shades namely Warrior White, Ballistic Blue, and Knight Black. The dual tone shades offer Gloss Black as second shade on the Blue and Black while Grey/Matte Black can be seen on most of the panels of Warrior White. The shades are really attractive and customer can select any one out of all at the same price tag of INR 1,19,335. Yamaha misses out the typical race Blue from the FZ series.

11) Low Power But Very Quick!

The power output of Yamaha FZ25 is 20.69 BHP at 8000 rpm. The value seems low when compared to the output of Bajaj Pulsar NS200 (23.17 BHP), Pulsar RS200 (24.2 BHP) and KTM 200 Duke (24.6 BHP). All other produce the peak power at 9500-10000 rpm while the Yamaha FZ25 needs just 8000 rpm for the same. Yamaha FZ25 is one of the quickest bikes in India in this price range.

Cons of Yamaha FZ25

1) No ABS

Yamaha FZ25 lacks ABS as an option as most other bikes around the segment are offered with optional ABS. Yamaha will introduce the ABS model in the coming weeks but it could have simply been kept as standard at the time of launch.

2) Lack of 6th Gear

The motorcycle comes with a 5-speed gearbox, this could be a cost cutting factor as Yamaha FZ series never experienced the 6-speed gearbox from its time of launch. Although, the R15S has a 150cc engine and uses a 6-speed gearbox, claiming a price tag that is nearly equal to the 250cc FZ. Yamaha must have shared the 5-speed unit with the FZS V2 itself.

3) No Liquid Cooling

FZ25 carries an air+oil cooled engine that can also be a cost-cutting fact from Yamaha’s side, as the engine used in FZ250 has been carried over from the Fazer 250 sold in Brazil. Liquid cooling could have increased the overall cost of the bike and even was not that necessary for its naked design. The air cooling factor is great as Yamaha engines are good performers without the need for a complicated system for the same.

4) Poor LED Headlamp

Yamaha FZ25 comes with an aggressive-looking full LED headlight, improving the style quotient of the motorcycle in every way. But as per most of the owners, the LED headlight is a poor performer. So, in case you are planning to buy the FZ25, we would recommend you to replace the stock LED bulbs with high-intensity after-market options.
