A recent report in the automotive industry claims that Yamaha is planning to launch the new MT-03 street fighter in 2019. Earlier, the bike was expected to launch around the festive season of 2018, but it didn’t happen. Now, according to some of the dealers, the brand is planning to launch the naked version of the R3 in India by mid-2019. As of now, Yamaha has not made any official announcement regarding the same. When launched in India, the bike would be competing with BMW G310R and Benelli TNT 300 in its price range. However, the segment is dominated by single cylinder lightweight motorcycles in the Indian market.
2019 Yamaha MT-03 shares most of its parts with the Yamaha R3 while the changes include a single headlight unit as well as a relaxed bar type handlebar for better street control. Like the new model of R3, the MT-03 will also be equipped with 2-channel ABS as standard. The bike is powered by the same 321cc, liquid cooled and fuel injected engine producing 42 HP @ 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm @ 9,000 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and weighs just 168 kg, making it really quick in terms of performance. 2019 model of Yamaha MT-03 is expected to arrive with a price tag of around INR 3,25,000 (ex-showroom India).
