As per the latest rumours, Yamaha is planning to launch the new MT-03 street fighter by the end of this year. Earlier, the bike was expected to launch around the festive season of 2018 but it didn’t happen. As of now, Yamaha Motor India has not made any official announcement regarding the launch of the MT-03. When launched in India, the bike would be competing with the likes of BMW G310R and the Benelli TNT 300. However, the segment is dominated by single cylinder lightweight motorcycles in the Indian market.
2019 model of the Yamaha MT-03 shares most of its parts with the YZF-R3 while the changes include a single headlight unit as well as a relaxed bar type handlebar for better street control. Unlike the new model of the YZF-R3 with USD forks, the MT-03 comes equipped with conventional telescopic front forks.
The bike is powered by the same 321cc, liquid cooled and fuel injected engine producing 42 HP at 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm at 9,000 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and weighs just 168 kg, making it really quick in terms of performance. The MT-03 will also be equipped with 2-channel ABS as standard.
The updated model of the Yamaha MT-03 is expected to arrive in India with a price tag of around INR 3,25,000 (ex-showroom). The brand will also launch the new model of the YZF-R3 in India this year.
