Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 Pros & Cons

List of Pros of R15 V3

1) Looks & Style Yamaha R15 V3 looks stunning with its track bike inspired looks and class-leading design lines. The brand has infused DNA of bigger R1 and R6 into this lightweight racer as one could clearly spot the wing-styled rear panels and slim LED taillight design.

2) Variable Valve Actuation Yamaha is using VVA on their new 155.1cc, liquid-cooled and fuel-injected engine. This helps the R15 V3 deliver linear power throughout the rev band. Before 6000 rpm, a different cam lobe is selected by this technology while later, a different one comes into action. This helps in achieving a thrilling ride in both low and high rpm range riding conditions.

3) Performance R15 Version 3.0 claims a top speed of 136kmph while 0-100kmph takes around 10.5 seconds. This makes it the quickest 150cc segment motorcycle to reach 100kmph. Most 200cc bikes, which are definitely much heavier, claim sprint times equivalent to R15 V3.

4) All-Digital Console Yamaha is using a white back-lit all-digital console for R15 Version 3.0. The unit looks awesome and perfectly derived from race-spec options. The wide display offers gear indicator, top speed, horizontally visible tachometer, and a VVA indicator.

5) Wide Tyres Yamaha is using 100/80-17 front tyre for their third-generation R15. This is the same size tyre that was available at the rear on the first-generation model. The rear tyre on use in R15 Version 3.0 is 140/70-17, making it the largest ever tyre for R15 variants till date.

6) Slipper Clutch R15 V3 offers low-stress gear shifts during deceleration and also helps rider enjoy lighter clutch than normal bikes. It helps in reducing overall stress and more than that, limits engine braking for better performance of the chassis.

7) Dual-Channel ABS The motorcycle features 2-channel ABS on the present version, getting itself a price hike of INR 12,000 over the last non-ABS price tag. The system helps the rider stay safe on wet roads and also follows the latest government regulations.

Cons of Yamaha R15 V3

1) Aggressive Riding Position The rider position for Yamaha R15 V3 is highly aggressive and thus, not everyone will be equally comfortable on this bike. Short riders will face feet grounding problems on the third version of R15. The rider now needs to bend forward more than ever.

2) Visible Welds Yamaha R15 has been perfectly crafted in terms of design but one can find untreated welds on certain parts of the frame. The most visible one is located right where the fairing ends while another can be spotted slightly lower to the console.

3) Poor LED Headlights R15 V3 comes with twin LED headlights that are sleeker and smarter than ever. But on the downside, the illumination offered by the LED headlight is poor in comparison to other bikes of this segment. The throw is lower than decent and one may need to switch to a more powerful option in order to get better night riding quality.
