Yamaha R15 has been a huge success in the Indian market, especially among entry-level riders. Now it’s great news for the folks who are always in the wait for new bikes by the brand. Recently, we have come to know that the Japanese manufacturer is planning to release the fourth-gen of its R15 model as the test mule has been spotted on the Indian roads for the very first time. The bike is at present in its third generation (V3) and is praised for its well-balanced chassis and smooth handling.
The pictures came from the spy video through the Youtube channel by Abhinav Bhatt. The test mule sighted in North India has a slew of updates on the motorbike, indicating that the manufacturer is preparing for a mid-life-cycle update. Even though the whole body of the test model can be seen cleverly hidden behind the camouflage, still some significant changes to the test bike’s front fascia can be observed, while the rear end appears to be identical to the current model.
According to some changes noted from the spy images, it appears that, unlike the present R15’s dual-LED headlamp layout, the forthcoming R15 will have a single-pod LED headlamp with integrated LED DRLs, as we have seen on the new model of Yamaha R7. However, the most significant change in the next-gen model is the addition of upside-down (USD) front forks, which have replaced the conventional telescopic forks. While looking at the instrument console changes, the brand is likely to provide Bluetooth connectivity in the upcoming model.
When it comes to the seating arrangement in the new version of the bike, the riding posture is going to remain the same as the R15 V3 owing to smaller clip-on handlebars and a taller seat with footpegs angled slightly to the back. Upcoming R15 V4 will continue to offer the split seat setup. More details are anticipated to emerge in the near future and the official launch of this bike can be expected towards the end of 2021 or in early 2022.
