2020 Renault Kwid Launched in India Starting @ INR 2.83 Lakh

The 2020 Renault Kwid has been officially launched by the brand at a price tag of INR 2.83 lakhs for the base variant. The customers can avail the hatchback in five trims namely: Standard, RxE, RxL, RxT, and Climber. The brand is offering the refined Kwid with two petrol engine options while the customers can book the hatchback at Renault’s official Indian website at a token amount of INR 5,000. Renault is offering the facelifted Kwid in Zanskar Blue, Fiery Red, Moonlight Silver, Ice Cool White, Outback Bronze, and Electric Blue colour options.

Taking major styling cues from the Renault City KZ-E electric car which has been initially launched in China earlier this year, the 2020 Renault Kwid gets a sturdy appeal. Coming to the front fascia, the facelifted Kwid gets a split headlamp setup with a horizontal chrome grille at the front mated to LED DRLs. In addition to this, the brand has offered the main headlamp set up in a deep recess to protect the hatchback from damage in case of minor collisions. The rear bumper of the hatchback has also been redesigned to set it apart from the current-gen variant and now features redesigned tail lamps inserted with LED elements. The top-spec Climber variant of the 2020 Renault Kwid has been equipped with roof rails, faux skid plates, gunmetal alloy wheels as well as orange highlights on the body panels. Coming to the interiors, the hatchback now features a redesigned dashboard in addition to getting a new steering wheel design. The brand has equipped the updated variant of the Kwid with a digital instrument panel as well as an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, borrowed from the Renault Triber. In addition to this, the brand has also offered newly redesigned seats inside the cabin.

The hatchback features driver’s airbag, ABS with EBD, seat belt reminders, speed alert system and reverse parking sensors as a part of standard safety package while the top-spec Climber variant also features front passenger airbag in addition to getting other premium features like manual AC, centre armrest at the rear, LED DRLs, compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Apart from the cosmetic changes, the 2020 Renault Kwid remains mechanically unaltered. The 0.8-litre petrol engine is good for a maximum power of 54HP and 72Nm of maximum torque, while the 1.0-litre petrol engine offers a maximum power of 68hp and a peak torque of 91Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the customers can also avail the 5-speed AMT with the 1.0-litre petrol engine. The recently launched facelifted Kwid will now compete in the market with the likes of Maruti Suzuki S-Presso in addition to Datsun Redi-Go and Maruti Suzuki Alto K10.
