2018 Audi Q5 has been launched in India at INR 53.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The car was spotted at number of occasions and finally got itself a launch event.
Audi Q5 follows the local assembly route and comes with INR 57.60 lakh of price tag for top spec Premium Plus trim. Audi India claims 17.01 kmpl of mileage for this diesel powered SUV.
The car stays true to its earlier profile and looks like a smaller version of Q7 with its almost similar design language. As it is now based on the MLB platform, weight reduction becomes the biggest advantage on the 2018 model. The car is perfectly sized and offers four wheel drive (Audi Quattro drive) as standard on all variants.
Rivals in the segment includes BMW X3, Mercedes GLC and Volvo XC60. Proportions of Audi Q5 offers a wide body design that could take 5 passengers and their luggage from one point to the other in the most luxurious possible way.
The rear end of Audi Q5 is quite different from the Q7, carrying better design of tail lights than the almost rectangular units on the seven seat SUV. Front grill is more inspired from the Q3 in terms of design as it extends slightly outwards to the headlight area.
Engine options on offer is 2.0L diesel engine producing 190 HP at 3800-4200 rpm and 400 Nm at 1750-3000 rpm. Five driving modes (Comfort, Individual, Dynamic, Off Road and Automatic) are available as standard on both the newly launched variants.
The engine comes mated to a 7-speed S-tronic gearbox. Five paint options namely Black, White, Blue, Silver and Grey are offered with both trims. It weighs 90 kg less than the 2017 version and still brings updated technology like virtual cockpit, 8.3 inch touchscreen navigation unit and in-car Wi-Fi hot-spot.
