Top 10 best-selling cars of August 2018 flaunt huge numbers, dominating almost 60 percent of the total number registered by entire list of brands for everyday cars. The list is dominated by Maruti Alto, registering 22,237 units and moving the mighty Dzire to the second position with 21,990 units. The difference is not that large as the position may again interchange again next month. The ease of credit availability and lower than ever part and service cost has encouraged buyers to switch from smaller hatchbacks to slightly larger size, hovering around 4 meters in general. The list contains nine sub 4m cars and only Creta measures above this benchmark.
The number is divided into six hatchbacks, two compact sedans, one compact SUV and last being the mighty Creta. The third position goes to Maruti Swift with 19,115 units while Baleno follows next with 17,713 units in August 2018. Even the fifth and sixth position comes into Maruti lineup through Wagon-R and Brezza with 13,658 units and 13,271 units respectively. Hyundai is the second most dominating brand with the seventh, eighth and ninth position to its name, claimed by i10 Grand (11,489 units), i20 (11,475 units) and Creta (10,394 units) respectively. The last position was bagged by Honda Amaze with 9,644 units in August 2018.
The total number of Hyundai cars left after these three options were good enough for around 12,000 units (approx) in August 2018 while Maruti Suzuki scored almost 40,000 units from other cars than these six listed here.
