2017 BMW 1 Series Sedan Officially Unveiled

The much-awaited 2017 BMW 1 Series sedan has finally been revealed today. BMW 1 Sedan will give a tough competition to Audi A3 sedan and the Mercedes-Benz CLA. The 1 Series sedan concept was showcased at the Auto Guangzhou event in China as the 'Concept Compact Sedan’ in 2015 and has also been spied earlier multiple times.

The car continues to retain the same looks which was previewed at the concept car last year. The marque’s trademark kidney grille is still there though with little less chrome than the concept car. Along with this the sleek LED headlamps, the “wing-design” lower intake has also been retained. The car has got black painted trim piece on the fog lamp enclosures, resized wheels with five twin-spoke look, redesigned side mirrors and conventional door handles which are the same as concept car.

The important part is that BMW 1 series has been designed to meet the needs of Chinese customers and will be available only for the sedan-obsessed market of China. The 1-Series Sedan has been developed and tested in the BMW headquarters with the help of Chinese engineers.

To make sure it fits into Chinese market, the new car was tested under varying climatic and road conditions in different terrains in China. Along with that BMW 1 Series Sedan has been structured and designed with special fine-tuning and improvements to suit habits and vehicle-use environment of Chinese customers.bmw-1-series-sedan-2

The BMW 1 Series is a collaborative project developed by German brand’s Bavarian headquarters and Chinese partner Brilliance Auto. The production for 1 Series sedan will take place in China and will be sold along with X1 SUV and 2 Series Active Tourer. This may be BMW's first front-wheel drive sedan but as such there are no confirmations about the same. Although there are no revelations about the dimensions of the car but a  capacious passenger space in the back row is expected, it being the primary target for any vehicle sold in China. Whether the car will be launched for the global market or will continue to hit Chinese roads, still remains a secret.
