BMW 8 Series was recently spied ahead of its official reveal this year. It would serve as the new flagship coupe, rivalling none other than Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe in the international lineup of German cars.
Indirect rival for the new BMW would be Bentley Continental GT. BMW will manufacture the same in coupe and convertible body style. It seems to be based on Concept 8-series and shares some design lines with 6-series Gran Coupe.
The concept version was highly glorified while production spec car feels a bit watered down from the rear end. It will use the same under-body as BMW 7-series.
Even after BMW’s huge attempts of making something that matches no other, little components used all over the body clearly speaks of the car’s association with younger sedan series members.
BMW will share some drive-train options with 7-series but iPerformance Plug-in hybrid will debut on this model. That will help them name the entry level 3.0L diesel engine as 830d and prove it better with more power and almost equal fuel use.
The car will definitely pick up bigger engines like 4.4L V8 for more expensive variants. Fans expecting M8 will then bring more challenges to the brand.
BMW will add semi autonomous functions to the interior of BMW 8-Series. BMW will use present technologies like xDrive on every variant. The 600 HP, 4.4L engine may remains specific to M8 while V12 engine will enter later into the car.
BMW is expected to replace both the 6-series coupe and convertible with this upcoming product. It looks huge and carves a unique space for itself through that angular front grill placement and very aggressive rear end.
M-Sport variant will feature an even sporty body kit. The smooth wheel aches and explosive exhaust design looks very impressive on the car.
