BMW CE-02 Launched: Premium Electric Scooter Priced at Rs 4.5 Lakh

The BMW CE-02, a premium electric scooter that has been making rounds lately. In fact, priced at Rs 4.5 lakh, it is clear that BMW isn’t going after the casual scooter buyer here. This thing is designed for people who want to pull up to the café and make a statement or, let’s be real, want to ride around the city in style. And honestly, I get why. Something straight out of flick looking.

That price is what I want to talk about now. Yeah, I know it’s steep. Really steep. Maybe I can’t afford a decent bike. However, let’s not irresponsibly play make believe—BMW has never been about saving up for the gas mileage. Ever since these two were born, they’ve been about luxury and performance and now they’re bringing that flare into the world of electric scooters. If you’re into premium rides then this is sleek, futuristic and honestly just might be worth the splurge!

What’s Under the Hood?

On the specs, that’s where the fun starts. An 11 kW motor drives the CE 02 to a top of 90 km/h. If you’re used to zooming down the highway on a motorcycle, that number probably doesn’t blow you away right now. But let me put it this way: Can you imagine how it would be to just glide through traffic, going around cars, without a sound or any of the hassles that come with driving heavy cars? It’s not about the raw speed, it just needs to be a good experience.

What’s the kicker here, the speed doesn’t have to be the only reason. Even straight out of the jump, this scooter has some serious acceleration. If the light turns green, you’ll still be there when it does. That instant torque and, because it’s electric. It starts fun as soon as you twist the throttle.

Is Design Meant to Be?

Now, let’s talk design. Honestly, this thing is wild. BMW has thrown out that rulebook on what a scooter should look like. CE-02 does have a somewhat stripped down, industrial kinda vibe to it, chunky, squared off and a bit dystopian futurist. It’s like riding an epic of modern art. And I’m here for it. BMW was always going to be different and they’ve copied that ethos here.

The design isn’t for everyone, though I’ll be real with you. It might be too futuristic. Too out there. For that reason, if you’re the kind of person that likes to turn heads (and you should be at least a little bit), this scooter will absolutely do that. I mean, how often do you stop, stare at a scooter? Exactly.

Is It Practical?

Outside of cool design and solid performance, how practical is it? The CE-02 is good for up to 90 km on a single charge, and is best for city rides. And you aren’t going to be riding this on any long stretches down the highway, because that’s not what it was designed to do. Designed for urban adventures, running errands, commuting to work, zipping around town, this scooter is. Because of its small design, you manage it easily in tight spaces. If you live in a city, you understand just how useful as set as this can be.

Oh, and it’s electric, so goodbye nearly daily stop at the gas station. All you need it for is to just plug it in. It may take a bit longer to juice up if you aren’t near fast charging, but it’s not going to be a problem if you’re commuting to and from work daily. Honesty, that’s a big plus: it’s low maintenance, it’s eco friendly.

Who’s This For?

The BMW CE-02 is the perfect ride for urban professionals who want something functional, but also a wee bit flashy. But you just need something smaller and fun for the city and you might even already drive a BMW or might be dreaming of one. And that’s why the scooter makes sense. Well, it’s premium, it’s eco, it’s fashionable and it is just what you need for a short trip around town. But it’s also a conversation starter — people will ask you about it as soon as they see you roll up.

Final Thoughts – Is It Worth It?

With the price tag of Rs INR 4.5 lakhs, is the BMW CE-02 worth this amount? That’s not for everyone for sure. But if you’re after a cheap basic scooter, or don’t really care about design or performance, there’s plenty of options out there. In case you do share my love for good design, strong performance and the BMW ‘Tie’, this scooter makes a lot sense then. It’s fun, bold and different, and I think it’s actually a very exciting, refreshing motorcycle to ride.

But what about you? Would you consider this premium electric scooter, or is the pricetag just too high considering what you get? I’d love to know your thoughts on this.
