The all-new BMW M5 Competition has hit the Indian market at a starting ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.55 crore and the car has been launched in the country as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) model. The new launch contains a roof made from extremely lightweight, high-strength Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP).
The M-design specification includes the M-kidney grille with the grille frame along with the rearview mirrors and the characteristic M-spec side air vents. Adding to the significant identity of the sedan, it has a rear apron and M-grade rear spoiler in a black high-gloss finish. The M5 Competition is already available at the dealerships and it also replaces the earlier retailing model in the country, BMW M5.
Digging deep into the design specifications, you will find out that it has an M-specific twin exhaust and the M5 Competition badging has also been included in the package. The BMW’s latest sports car has been equipped with a V8 twin-turbocharged petrol engine that generates a roaring power of 625HP, which is better in comparison to the standard M5 model that generates 25HP less power and used to retail in India at a price tag of INR 1.43 crore. As far as the torque is concerned, the M5 Competition is capable to generate 750Nm of maximum torque.
The powerful engine of the BMW M5 Competition has been teamed with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. As the new launch by the German luxury carmaker has the brand’s M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, therefore, it puts down power through all four wheels. The M5 Competition is capable to do the 0-100kph sprint in just 3.3sec, which makes it faster by 0.1sec as compared to the standard M5 model.
If we talk about the interior, it has been equipped with M-specific features like multi-function sport seats, seat belts, leather multi-function steering wheel, pedals, and a red start/stop button. Some of the other key features include a HUD (Head-Up Display), 600W 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay support, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system. The BMW M5 Competition will rival the Mercedez-AMG E63 S 4MATIC+, which is a performance sports sedan.
