Brand-Wise Car Sales Report: August 2018 was yet another month when Maruti Suzuki proved that they will never let the numero uno position leave their side. Not just that, numbers speak louder than anything else you can imagine, with Maruti scoring better sales than eleven remaining brands combined. They registered 1,45,624 units in this 31-day period, leaving Hyundai behind by a margin double than their number.
Hyundai was the second best selling brand with 45,801 units in August 2018. If seen independently, the cars moving from Maruti’s NEXA dealerships scored 28,672 units. Tata Motors is now India’s third largest car brand, retailing 18,420 units to leave Mahindra (17,368 units) and Honda (17,020 units) behind for fourth and fifth position respectively. Toyota is the sixth largest brand with 14,136 units.
Soon as one crosses the half line, remaining brands can be seen struggling for numbers in the Indian market. However, most of them are well-off in terms of exports and total production. Ford scored the seventh position with 8042 units while Renault followed close with 6557 units. The numbers fall once again with Volkswagen scoring just 3334 units and Nissan (including Datsun) getting 3108 buyers.
Jeep, including the number of Fiat (97 units only) cars sold, scored 1400 units in August 2018. Skoda scored the last position with 1330 units in the same month. The products from the last six brands are equally capable in their respective segments but, still get fewer buyers due to the preference of Indian buyers to prefer high selling products. These brands offer some of the most feature-loaded products.
