Brand-Wise Car Sales Report: April is the first month of FY 2018-19 and sales figures are already skyrocketing for most high selling brands. Overall growth rate for Indian automobile industry was 7.3% while individual brands showed variable numbers.

  1. Maruti Suzuki – 1,63,434 units
  2. Hyundai – 46,735 units
  3. Mahindra – 20,041 units
  4. Tata – 17,235 units
  5. Toyota – 13,037 units
  6. Honda – 9,143 units
  7. Ford – 7,428 units
  8. Renault – 7,422 units
  9. Nissan – 3,526 units
  10. Volkswagen – 3,109 units
  11. Fiat + Jeep – 1,973 units
  12. Skoda – 1,400 units

Maruti Suzuki was the highest selling brand with 1,63,434 units in April 2018, registering 13.4% YoY growth and helping them claim 55.5% of market share in the country. That means when 1000 cars were sold, 555 units were delivered by Maruti Suzuki from them. Hyundai was second best selling car brand with 46,735 units (4.4% growth) delivered in April 2018.

Mahindra registered impressive 12.6% growth YoY and sold 20,041 units. Tata Motors is back into charts with impressive products like Nexon, Tiago and Tigor. Even the Hexa scores decent numbers for a car of its class. They sold 17,235 units and bagged 34.4% YoY growth. It was the highest gainer in terms of growth here.

Toyota got fifth position among top sellers but growth was almost negligible in India at 0.6%. They were good for 13,037 units in April 2018, mostly owing their sales to Innova Crysta. Honda had a huge decline of sales and registered 9,143 units. It was due to delayed 2018 Honda Amaze.

Ford came next with 7,428 units in April 2018 while Renault Kwid witnessed a downfall and thus, they could just deliver 7,422 units from their complete lineup. The number was pretty close. Nissan came ninth with 3,526 units while Volkswagen sold 3,109 units.

Out of these 10 brands, first five had positive growth while last five were marked red in YoY growth numbers. Fiat got 1,973 buyers in April 2018. Almost entire number came from Jeep Compass. Skoda India registered 2% growth and sold 1,400 units during this 30 day period. Total number of cars sold were 2,94,483 units.
