Latest Brand-Wise Car Sales Report: September 2018 took the overall Maruti dominance to the next level, claiming 52.5% of the market share in passenger cars. They sold 1,51,512 units in the 30-day period, leaving not just car but even some of the motorcycle brands behind by a clean margin. The second position was captured by Hyundai with 47,781 units, leaving no scope of rivalry by other brands with this massive number. Mahindra is the third largest brand by volume, getting 19,942 buyers in the month of September. Tata Motors, the arch-rival of Mahindra, came fourth with 18,429 units.
Honda is India’s fifth most-selling brand with 14,866 units while Toyota claims the sixth position with 12,512 units in September 2018. Ford India sold 8,239 units and claimed the seventh position while Renault was the last brand to cross an average of 200 units per day with 6,434 units. Volkswagen scored 3,208 units, getting an average of just over 100 units per day in the entire country. Majority of the sales number comes from the compact cars. Datsun India claimed the tenth position with 2,801 units in the 30-day period of September.
Skoda, considered as a luxurious alternative to Japanese sedans and SUVs, scored 1,358 units while Jeep Compass helped the brand get the next position with 1,196 units in total. These brands still scored a good number when compared according to the price segment that they cater in our country. Nissan is clearly failing to exist with 426 units while Fiat seems unwilling to even consider making a strategy to recover the 101 units sales number.
