A plaything for billionaires, a pipe dream for us – The 2017 Bugatti Chiron, an outlandish limited-production supercar, powered by 1500 horses, brilliantly engineered and meticulously handcrafted was unchained at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
At a price tag of $ 2.61 million, the Bugatti Chiron is all set to redefine the boundaries of speed and performance. The supercar can sprint from zero to 100 kph in a mere 2.5 seconds, 0 to 200 kph in less than 6.5 seconds and to 300 kph in just 13.6 seconds. With a top (street legal) speed of 420 kph, the car is slightly faster than its predecessor, the Bugatti Veyron.
The car derives all this power from an upgraded 8.0 liter W16 engine equipped with 4 turbocharges producing an impressive 1500 PS (1,103 kW / 1,479 hp) @ 6700 rpm and a 1600 Nm of torque between 2000-6000 rpm. The engine is mated to a revised seven-speed, dual clutch automatic gearbox.
Dimension-ally, the Chiron is 82mm longer (4544 mm), 40mm wider (2038 mm) and 53 mm higher (1212 mm) than the Veyron. It also weighs a 341 pounds higher, registering a total weight of 4398 pounds (1995 kg). On the exterior, the bears quite a resemble to its predecessor, but beneath the familiar armor is a fully carbon fiber body.
So far, 180 Bugatti’s (and still counting!) have been pre-sold. Unfortunately, the ultra rich buyers will have to wait for an 18 month wait period before they can get their hands on this engineering marvel developed by the brilliant minds at Volkswagen.
