Datsun is working on launching a facelift version of its entry-level hatchback, the Redi-Go. The brand has officially revealed certain design changes in the car via teaser images. Datsun Redi-Go was launched back in 2016 and has not received any major updates to date. The company says that the 2020 Datsun Redi-Go will have bold and sporty exteriors as visible in the teaser images. The front end of the car looks new as the grille is now bigger than the one on the last-gen model with chrome surround. The new model features large L-shaped DRLs that look pretty smart when compared to the tiny optional ones that were available on the outgoing model.
The hatchback’s overall tall-body design remains unchanged but the new model will come with an integrated spoiler at the rear to enhance the sportiness in the design. The interiors of the car are likely to get some minor changes. It can come featured with a touchscreen infotainment system and a front passenger-side airbag. It is for sure that the 2020 Datsun Redi-Go will comply with the recent Indian crash test norms along with the upcoming pedestrian protection standards. Mechanically, the car will get BS6-compliant 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engine options. They will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with an option of AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) for the 1.0-litre petrol variant.
The BS4 Datsun Redi-Go was available in a total of 5 variants starting from INR 2.80 lakh and going up to INR 4.37 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Talking about the rival brands, the biggest competitor of the facelifted Redi-Go would be the Maruti’s Alto that is priced between INR 2.95 lakh and INR 4.36 lakh. Among one of the recent updates, Nissan is planning to phase out the Datsun brand in India which will probably happen in 2022 or 2023 so we can expect that this is the last updated offering from Datsun for the Indian market.
