2018 Force Gurkha is almost ready to make a statement in Indian off-road segment. A recent brochure leak has confirmed that they will name the newcomer as Gurkha Xtreme and bring more power to this already capable product. The image seen here has already surfaced before while values were leaked for the first time.
Force Motors will use the same 2.2L, 4-cylinder engine but this time, the power values have been beefed up for confident off-road travel. This 2149cc, TCIC CRDe, 16-valve DOHC engine is good for 140HP at 3800 rpm and 321 Nm at 1600-2400 rpm.
Both ends are available with a differential lock while buyers get 5-speed gearbox with single lever 4×4 high/low option. Force Gurkha Xtreme will come with 245/70-R16 tyres for high levels of safety and comfort during the toughest rides of all time. The car will measure 3992 mm in length, 1790 mm in width and 2055 mm in height.
Gurkha Xtreme carries 205 mm of impressive ground clearance and weighs 2510 kg with standard equipment. Interestingly, they have listed the same to be available in six and eight seat option. The front brakes are disc type while the rear gets standard drum braking system as all other same segment cars.
Gurkha has unofficially been awarded the title of the best off-road machine that one could buy in this segment. Thar is the only rival when considered precisely and soon, this high power variant will prove fatal to Mahindra’s favorite off-roader.
Force Gurkha was criticized for its interior finish and quality, which they may improve in this typical version. If Mahindra Thar style dual tone interior is offered, no complaining point will remain in Gurkha from all aspects. They are expected to price Gurkha Xtreme under INR 12 lakh, not including registration and insurance charges.
