2018 Ford EcoSport was recently launched in India starting from INR 7.31 Lakh (ex-showroom). The car now comes with its much awaited mid-life face-lift and brings alive the magic of signature Ford front grille on the sub 4-meter SUV.
Evolution of the last generation EcoSport into this fantastic looking machine is the best ever transformation one could see in this segment. Apart from its exterior evolution, the interiors are now even more satisfying than ever. Ford has simplified the lineup and buyers can now choose between just two engine options (instead of earlier available 3) for their new car.
Surprisingly, an all-new petrol engine has made its way into the Indian market. Known by the name Dragon, this all new 1497 cc, three cylinder engine is good for 123 PS at 6500 rpm and 150 Nm at 4500 rpm. Depending on the variant selected, this new engine is available with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic unit.
Manual variant claims 17 kmpl while automatic is good for 14.8 kmpl of mileage. The new EcoSport measures 3998 mm in length, 1765 mm in width and 1647 mm in height. The width mentioned here does not include ORVMs while height excludes roof rails. It carries a wheelbase of 2519 mm while fuel tank capacity measures 52 liters.
The 1.5L Diesel engine on the new EcoSport is good for 100 PS and 205 Nm of torque. It stays the same as old generation SUV and returns a healthy 23 kmpl of claimed mileage. Petrol powered Dragon engine is for those who love performance while diesel power is good for everyday commuters with bigger numbers on the odometer everyday.
List of impressive features on the new EcoSport includes cruise control, side & curtain airbags, 8-inch floating touchscreen system, projector headlights, rear view camera and much more. It seems like Ford has another successful product on their side now.
